🌙 Eid Prayer Sunnah 🌙
Follow the beautiful traditions of the Prophet (PBUH) on Eid al-Fitr.
1. Perform Ghusl (Ritual Bath)
"Ibn Umar used to perform Ghusl on the day of Fitr before going to the prayer."
— [Al-Muwatta’ 428]
2. Wear Your Best Clothes
Umar suggested the Prophet (PBUH) wear a nice cloak on Eid.
— [Bukhari 948]
3. Eat Before the Prayer (Odd Number of Dates)
"The Prophet would not go out on Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates."
— [Bukhari 953]
4. Recite the Takbeer
"...to glorify Allah for what He has guided you..." — [Qur’an 2:185]
"Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil-hamd"
📌 Takbeer for Eid al-Fitr starts: From the night of Eid (i.e., after Maghrib on the last day of Ramadan)
📌Takbeer ends: When the Eid prayer begins the next morning
5. Go Early to the Eid Prayer
"The Prophet would go out early on Eid to the prayer place."
— [Bukhari 956]
6. Return by a Different Route
"The Prophet would return from Eid by a route different from the one he took going."
— [Bukhari 986]

How To Perform Eid Prayer
🕋 1st Rak'ah:
Make niyyah (intention) in your heart.
Say Takbeer al-Ihram ("Allahu Akbar") to start the prayer.
Say 6 to 7 additional Takbeerat (raising your hands each time).
Between each Takbeer, it's Sunnah to pause briefly and say:
SubhanAllah, walhamdulillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar
Recite Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by another Surah (e.g., Surah Al-A’la).
Complete the rak'ah as normal (ruku', sujood, etc.).
🕋 2nd Rak'ah:
After standing up, say 5 additional Takbeerat (before reciting Al-Fatihah).
Recite Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by another Surah (e.g., Surah Al-Ghashiyah).
Complete the rak'ah and end with Tashahhud and Tasleem.
🗣️ Khutbah (Sermon)
Delivered after the prayer.
It is Sunnah, not obligatory, but highly recommended to stay and listen.
📌 Note:
If you missed the Eid prayer, it is permissible to make it up on your own with the same format (two rak'ahs with extra takbeerat) AFTER the imam finishes the khutbah.
